Installation

What exactly is a native plant, and why does it matter?
A native plant is one that evolved naturally in a specific region — in our case, the Colorado Front Range. These plants have spent thousands of years adapting to our exact soil, rainfall patterns, altitude, and temperature swings. That means they require dramatically less water, fewer (if any) chemical inputs, and almost no fussing once established. Will my yard still look designed and intentional, not wild?
Absolutely. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about native landscaping. A well-designed native garden is every bit as polished and intentional as a traditional landscape. How long until my native garden looks established?
There is a saying in native gardening: first year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap.
